Three day Painting Workshops with option to construct an assembled surface.

Learn about composition, colour and proportions using oil painting techniques on panel and canvas. I support each student in developing their ideas and bringing them to a two dimensional surface. Process and techniques are discussed, individually and in group critiques. The option to build a constructed surface to paint on is also available. Using found materials (wood, metal, plastic, other bits and bobs) to make a semi 3D surface for a unique painting experience. I support each student at their level, and guide them to new artistic possibilities on their creative path.

Through art materials and stories spend three days exploring your strengths and challenges, and discovering your dreams. Using art materials recognize that the path you have been on has all the pieces needed to guide you on your journey. Listen to your inner wisdom to build a life that is personally fulfilling, shows leadership, and is supported by your inherent strengths. Body mapping, word play, story telling, dollmaking and guided movement will be some of our tools.

I have been teaching drawing and painting for 20 years and leading workshops since 2010. I am a BC certified teacher (2016), hold a masters degree in fine arts (1989) and most recently was thrilled to receive my art therapy certification (2020) and RCT , Registered Counseling Therapist in 2023 . As a practicing artist of over 30 years I have a wealth of knowledge to share in the journey of process which we dive into when we bring art mediums to a surface and start to play.

Painting and assemblage- Rather than teach a particular style, I support an appreciation of visual languages and understanding what that means using a variety of art materials and methods. I facilitate the exploration and broadening of each participant’s personal vision with considered and thoughtful mentorship.

Drawing- My lessons focus on rendering what is seen by the eye to a 2d surface. Drawing is a powerful tool for communicating, and everyone is capable of learning how. In my still life and life drawing classes, I teach eye hand coordination skills, and techniques in a variety of mediums to do just that! We also have a lot of fun.
